The Human Journey

The 9-step Human Journey outlines the path we may take to return to our state of True Nature:

STEP 1: BIRTH

We come into the world as our “true nature”, with no concept of past or future, experiencing life moment by moment. At this point, all our basic needs must be fulfilled.

STEP 2: VALIDATION

In order to thrive, we must feel welcomed, seen, heard, validated and loved through our interactions with our caregivers. Otherwise we will navigate painful feelings alone without the tools to do so.

STEP 3: WOUNDED CHILD

If our needs are unmet, we learn to discard or change our natural ways of being and start forming beliefs that we are flawed or bad.

STEP 4: STRATEGIES

To compensate for our wounding, the mind sets up strategies – a new way to be in the world. This may translate to people pleasing in exchange for love or belonging, or falling into addictions.

STEP 5: SUFFERING

Our compensating behaviours (addictions) and limiting core beliefs push us to a place where we are tired of being sick and tired.

STEP 6: AWAKENING

Whether it’s through a “coincidence”, meeting a wise man or woman or something else, we come into contact with new knowledge and wisdom that will change our life. 

STEP 7: LOVE YOUR DRAGON

By learning to understand all the different parts of ourselves – the good, the bad and the ugly – we begin to love our Dragon. We have deep gratitude for the fact that our Dragon existed to help us survive.

STEP 8: ALCHEMY

We develop the capacity to act from a place of consciousness rather than our compulsions. Only then, can we create a life of our own design, a life that speaks to us from our Soul, not our Ego.

STEP 9: JOY OF LIVING

We are now able to live from an inner knowing of our True Nature that fills us with aliveness, energy and joy. This is the part of the journey where we come back to our True Nature.
